| This presentation was scanned from a filmstrip published in 1976 with an accompanying cassette tape. The filmstrip was created at the World Center in Haifa and published in the US. Over the years it faded and eventually became a dull monochromatic reddish color which is typical of faded slides. The cassette also degraded as do all magnetic tape media. I scanned the filmstrip with a Nikon LS4000 dedicated film scanner at high resolution (4000 dpi, 16-bit, 50 MB). The scanner has built-in capability to restore faded film and bring it back close to its original quality. I performed considerable additional processing in Photoshop and assembled the presentation into a website. Some of the frames were too degraded to recover completely. A few others were not optimal quality in the original filmstrip. Larry Curtis of San Leandro, California provided me with a pristine electronic version of the original soundtrack which I incorporated into the website. The pictures above show two filmstrip frames as they appeared in the scanner software before color restoration and post-processing in Photoshop. |
